Intel research: Users massively fooled by phishing mails - 80% fails test

Research from Intel reveals that it's still hard for internet users to recognize phishing emails. The company has a quiz online for several years that shows emails to users and of which users have to determine whether the email is legitimate or a phishing mail.

Of the more than 19,000 participants of the test, only 3% was able to correctly identify all emails. About 80% was tricked by at least one phishing mail. On average the participants scored 65.4% which means that on average 1 out of 4 phishing emails was missed. According to Intel the results show that users should make more efforts to recognize phishing mails.
