iPhone survives 5000 foot fall from an airplane

An iPhone pretty much survived a drop of 1500 meters (5000 feet) when a pilot of a light aircraft accidently dropped the phone. The phone was dropped above a small island in the Netherlands and ended up on the roof of a home in a holiday resort.

The owner of the holiday resort found the phone, according to regional broadcaster RTV Noord-Holland. The pilot dropped his phone when he tried to make a picture of the island, which is a popular holiday destination. The phone made a nosedive of more than 1500 meters (5000 ft.)

The pilot considered his phone lost but tried to locate his phone though the "Find my iPhone" app. This worked, the app showed that the phone had landed somewhere on a holiday resort. The pilot then contacted the owner of the holiday resort which found the buzzing phone on the roof of one of the holiday houses.

The display of the phone didn't survive the landing but the rest of phone appears to be working. The pilot hopes to collect his phone next week.
