Microsoft extends support period for Windows 10 November Update

Microsoft has decided to extent support of  the first large Windows 10 Update (build 1511) for another half year. The so-called November Update (codenamed Threshold 2) would initially be supported till October this year, but will now receives updates till April 2018.

Microsoft has extended the support period to give enterprises more time to migrate to a newer version of Windows 10.

"To help some early enterprise adopters that are still finishing their transition to Windows as a service, we will be providing a supplemental servicing package for Windows 10, version 1511 for an additional six months, until April 2018, providing updates to address critical and important security issues that arise during that time," the company writes on its website.

The extended support period is only valid for educational and enterprise versions of Windows 10. Microsoft has stated that the updates are distributed through the regular channels like Windows Update, WSUS, Configuration Manager and the Windows Update Catalogus.
