Microsoft more aggressively pushes Edge in Windows 10 - doesn't want you to switch

In a leaked build of Windows 10, Microsoft more aggressively tries to convince users not to switch from the Windows 10 default browser Edge, to another browser such as Firefox, Opera or Chrome. Also when users want to switch from another music or photo application other than those of Microsoft, the company attemptsĀ to convince users not to switch.

The unofficial buildĀ 10568 was leaked some days ago and TheVerge discovered the changes in the operating system. Usually Microsoft adds the same features in Preview builds to the builds that end up on systems of end users.

Mozilla previously criticized Microsoft for its new policy on default applications. When users upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1 the default browser is set to Edge, unless they explicitly change it when not using the custom settings, as chosen by the majority of the users.

Nevertheless, many users switch to another default browser once the OS is installed and Chrome is currently the most popular browser amongst Windows 10 users. With the new measures Microsoft appears to want to make users a little more uncomfortable when switching from Microsoft apps.
