Microsoft starts to show 'Get Windows 10' nag screen to business users as well

The nag screen urging Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users to update to Windows 10 will soon also be shown to business users. Consumers are nagged to update since July last year, on business computers the 'Get Windows 10' screen wasn't shown, until now. By showing it also to them, Microsoft hopes to make it easier for small companies to upgrade to Windows 10.

Microsoft recently announced that more than 200 million devices run Windows 10. According to Microsoft's Matt Barlow many consumers have upgraded through the 'Get Windows 10' application. This application will now also be offered to businesses that run Windows 7 Pro or Windows 8.1 Pro.

In order to be eligible, the systems need to meet certain requirements. Besides the mentioned Windows versions, the computers should also have automatic updates enabled through Windows Update and not through WSUS or System Configuration Manager. WSUS allows companies to centrally update Windows computers.  The last requirement is that computers are connected to an Active Directory domain.

Companies that don't want their employees to upgrade to Windows 10 themselves can block this on the computer. Companies that use Windows Enterprise won't see the 'Get Windows 10' nag screen.
