Microsoft's latest browser, that's currently under heavy development, will no longer be called Internet Explorer. The software will also become the default browser in Microsoft latest operating system, Windows 10.

The information comes from Microsoft's marketing manager Chris Capossela. According to him, Microsoft is looking for a new name for the browser that currently goes by the internal name "Project Spartan".

It's appears to be pretty sure that the browser will not be called Internet Explorer anymore. The reason would be that the browser has a negative image. Microsoft is allegedly looking for different names which should at least include the company's name. Research in the United Kingdom would have revealed that Microsoft in the browsername would mainly convince Chrome users to switch.

Despite the alleged negative image of Internet Explorer, the browser will continue to be part of Windows 10. Microsoft will continue to ship Internet Explorer in the upcoming operating system for legacy reasons. Such a reason could be enterprises with an intranet for which specific ActiveX modules have been developed. Nevertheless, both IE, and the browser currently called Project Spartan, will share the same render engine.

Spartan will also come with new features, in contrary to Internet Explorer version that comes with Windows 10.  The new browser will get support for browser extensions and Microsoft's digital assistant Cortana is integrated.
