Microsoft uses Patch Tuesday to release cumulative update for Windows 10 October 2018

Today is the first Patch Tuesday after Microsoft restarted distribution of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update and the company uses the opportunity to distribute a new cumulative update for systems that have updated to the latest Windows 10 version. The cumulative update finally fixes all known issues.


The cumulative update is KB4471332 and according to Microsoft, it only includes quality improvements. Microsoft also writes that it has fixed an already known issue with the seek bar in Windows Media Player when playing specific files.

The cumulative update also fixes security issues in Windows Authentication, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Internet Explorer, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Wireless Networking, Windows Kernel, Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Scripting Engine.

Users who already installed all previous update will only receive new fixes.

With the release of this update, Microsoft also announces there won't be any preview releases anymore this year. The company writes, “Because of minimal operations during the holidays and upcoming Western new year, there won’t be any preview releases for the month of December 2018. Monthly servicing will resume with the January 2019 security releases.”
