Microsoft withdraws another update - company's patch system seriously flawed

Microsoft has withdrawn an update for PowerPoint 2013 which causes serious issues for users. Besides that, Windows users also complain about another update released last Tuesday. Powerpoint update KB2920732 should have increased stability and reliability of the software but soon after its release, users of Windows RT device started to complain about issues.

After installation they were unable to start PowerPoint.  Microsoft decided to withdraw the update and no longer offer it for download. The company is currently working on a solution. Last Tuesday also an update to Internet Explorer 11 was released to fix the so called POODLE SSL 3.0 leak. This update prevents that websites shown trough Internet Explorer's Protected Mode (default for internet sites) can't fallback to SSL 3.0. This prevents attackers from using this method. Cisco AnyConnect VPN users could no longer login to their VPN after they installed update, according to users complaining on the Cisco Forum. Fortunately an user has published a temporary workaround to this problem.

Microsoft had to withdraw several updates the last couple of months, in August last year an update to Windows 8.1 caused boot failures, in September the company withdrew an update for Lync and  in November last year an SSL update caused issues. A couple of days ago, the company also withdrew an update for Visual Studio 2010.
