OCZ appears to be working on the fifth series of its Vertex SSDs. Details of the upcoming Vertex 5 series have been posted on a Norwegian website. The Vertex 5 series should consist of drives with 20 nm NAND and a Barefoot 3 controller. The latter is developed by Indilinx a company that OCZ bought about a few years ago.
The Barefoot 3 controller is also the controller that can be found in the OCZ Vector series, however the Norwegian site mentions that OCZ will position the drive between the Vertex 4 and the Vector SSDs in both performance and price. The drives should become available in capacities of 128, 256 and 512 GB and should hit the market at the end of May this year.
