Plextor reveals lightweight, slim EX1 external SSD with USB Type-C interface

Plextor today announced the launch of its new generation of lightweight, slim SSDs, the Plextor EX1 series.The drive connects to other devices using the USB Type-C interface (USB 3.1 Gen 2).

The EX1 will be available in capacities of 128G, 256 and 512GB and Plextor specifies sequential read speeds of up to 550 MB/s and write speeds of up to 500 MB/s. The small SSD weighs 30 grams and is almost as compact as a regular flash drive.

The package drive comes with a Type-C to Type-A USB adapter cable, carrying pouch and AES-256 encryption software and there's choice between two exteriors, gold or titanium silver.

The EX1 has an MTBF (mean time between failures) of 2.4 million hours. Plextor plans to release the EX1 in November and provides a five-year warranty.
