One of the remaining popular torrent sites, ExtraTorrent has posted a message on its website that it has shut down permanently. Also all data has been permanently erased according to the message. It's unclear why the administrators of the website have decided to close the site.
The website now shows the message, "ExtraTorrent with all mirrors goes offline.. We permanently erase all data. Stay away from fake ExtraTorrent websites and clones. Thx to all ET supporters and torrent community. ET was a place to be...."
ExtraTorrent isn't the first popular torrent site that has disappeared, previously also KickAssTorrents and Torrentz.eu shut down.
