A touchscreen PlayStation Portable is rumoured to be Sony’s “one more thing” at this year’s E3 gaming expo.
A place holder on the Sony website tells visitors that “awesome PlayStation games and hardware are being revealed” at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. Sony is due to take the stage Tuesday afternoon (12.00pm PST).
Speculation is mounting that the hardware component of the announcement refers to an overhaul of Sony’s handheld PlayStation Portable, with Sony Computer Entertainment UK sales director Mark Howsen recently confirming the entertainment giant is looking to “reinvent the whole PSP model”.
Facing growing competition in the handheld market from the likes of Apple, Sony is expected to announced a multi-purpose portable device possibly featuring a built-in video camera. The PSP is currently in its sixth year, with Sony last year unveiling the PSP Go to mixed reviews.
