Roxio today announced the availability of Roxio Creator NXT 2 which according to the company can render AVC / H.264 video up to 10x faster. The improved performance is possible due a technology Roxio calls Smart Encoding .Unfortunately the company doesn't explain the technology anywhere. Roxio also mentions that audio conversion is faster.
Besides the boost in performance the software giant mentions that Creator NXT 2 supports more devices, Roxio already claims support for the unreleased next generation consoles the Xbox One and the Playstation 4. If you want to enhance your video with sound you'll get access to a Scorefitter royalty free music library. The Pro edition of Creator NXT 2 gives you access to more software that according to Roxio is worth $450.
The bundle consists of Corel WinDVD, HDR Express 2, SmartSound SonicFire Pro 5, iZotope Music and Speech cleaner, a Blu-ray disc plugin for HD video authoring and Roxio Secureburn for burning encrypted discs.
The release pretty much follows that of Nero, who yesterday announced the availability of their recently announced Nero 2014 package. Both companies were competing head to head in the heyday of the optical storage market.
Both companies bundled their software with CD and DVD writers. Nowadays they are mainly fighting for marketshare in the retail market. Both develop software that allows video, audio and picture editing, authoring and converting.
Roxio Creator NXT 2 is now available at $99.99 and the Pro version is available at $129.99.
