The Extreme Pro CFast 2.0 is the first card that supports the CFast 2.0, a standard based on the SATA specification. CFast 2.0 cards are not compatible with regular CF slots, the cards feature a tougher, pin-less design.Previous CompactFlash cards transfer based on the PATA/IDE specification, the switch to the SATA specification makes it possible for CFast 2.0 cards to achieve higher speeds of up to 600 MB/s.

Sandisk claims the Extreme Pro CFast 2.0 is the fastest CompactFlash card currently available.

The card won't much use for most people yet, the only camera supports this CompactFlash card is Arri Amira. This is a film camera, just launched by professional camera manufacturer Arri.  It's likely that more devices will support cards using CFast 2.0. The standard is supported by Canon who stated the new card will enable them to develop next generation cameras capable of 4K / Ultra HD recording.
