Seagate announces 8TB USB powered external HDD - no adapter needed

Seagate today announced the launch of its Innov8 USB-powered desktop hard drive. The external 8TB hard drive does not need to be plugged into a power outlet. USB 3.1 enables the Innov8 drive to thrive off bus power. No dedicated power source or adapter required.

Innov8 features Seagate’s 8TB HDD fitted in an aluminum enclosure that can be horizontally or vertically placed. The design of the Innov8 was done in partnership with Huge-Design, a firm that also worked for other consumer electronics brands such as GoPro, HP, and Nike.

The Innov8 external HDD (STFG8000400) comes with Seagate Dashboard software, which offers  either one-click on-demand or customizable, scheduled backups. Further, Seagate Innov8 includes 200GB of Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage and Lyve software compatibility, so it's possible to back up, access and share files from any device or location.

The drive has a length of 208mm, width of 123.6mm, depth of 36mm and weighs about 150 grams.
