Discovery Island in Bay Lake, Florida

In the 1970s, this island was known as a major tourist attraction destination. It could only be accessed from the Disney Resort boat, and they provided someone to guide you throughout the journey. This area had a wide range of exotic animals, a beach, and a pool for you to enjoy during your visit.

However, in 1999 the island was closed since there were allegations of wild roaming alligators that were life-threatening. Disney land is where people go to get peace, and such complaints are not suitable for visitors.

Other reason that led to the Discovery Island's closure are the accusations made by people of the staff mishandling the birds. Other people said there was a deadly bacteria in the park's waters. After the closure, the animals moved to another park.

This island will give you the creeps since it now looks like a ghost town. And if you are caught trespassing, you can be arrested or banned from Disneyland.

Nara Dreamland

In 1961, Disneyland opened this Japanese Version of the California Disneyland. The main street is designed like the one in the US. Moreover, you could have enjoyed the replicas of the Matterhorn Mountain, a monorail, as well as Sleeping Beauty's castle.

In 2006, this park was closed due to the low number of visitors. It didn't make sense for Disneyland to operate at a loss, thus the closure. Later it was demolished so that people would stop taking photographs of this forgotten area.

Rainbow Corridor

In Epcot, you will find the Rainbow Corridor created in 1982 but was later closed in 1998. It was part of the Image-Works housed upstairs and part of the Imagination Pavilion. After closure, this land there was a new creation of the Disney Vacation Club.

The rainbow corridor is still there, untouched. Thus, you can only imagine how it looks today. It was a sizable winding tunnel feature in different movies, but now, after being abandoned for a long time, it has remained untouched and left.

Disney River Country

This park was opened in 1976 in Florida but later was closed for many reasons in November 2001. Disney River country looked like a swimming hole with artificial mountains on the sides. You would enjoy spending time with your family in this area.

In 1980, a boy who had been in this area died. The primary cause was the amoeba, which breeds in the freshwater in this area, that attacked the brain. This case was absolved since amoeba could have produced anywhere. Then, there was another case of a boy who died in the park after drowning.

This new case forced Disney to cut the opening hours. Later, they shut down the park and have never opened again. This park is now overgrown and decaying. It will give you the creeps just being around an area where people died.

It is very unsettling visiting an abandoned area where two boys died after one drowned, and the other succumbed to death after having an amoeba attack.
