Sony demands $16,800 in damages from an American suspect of selling jailbroken PlayStation 4 consoles on which users could download and play pirated games. Damages have to be paid for two consoles with in total 76 pirated games installed.

Sony demands $800 in damages for each of the two sold console. The Japanese electronics giants wants $200 in damages for each downloaded and installed pirated game, according to Torrentfreak who dug up legal documents on the case.

According to Sony, the man circumvented the copy protection of the PlayStation 4 and sold the consoles with dozens of games on eBay under the handle Blackcloak13. His eBay account still exists.

In October last year, Sony started a lawsuit against the suspect, but he failed to show up in court. Therefore the company asks the judge for a default judgement.

Besides the claim of $16,800 in damages for copyright infringement, Sony also demands $3,458 in costs and attorney fees.
