Star Wars branded USB drives introduced

Thyme Machines today announced it has launched several new USB flash drives modeled after popular characters from the Star Wars movies.

"We at Thyme Machines thrive no bringing beloved characters such as these to life in full 3D to fans across the world," Thyme machines' CEO John McDaniel said in a statement.  "We are working continuously to bring Star Wars fans more collectables they can use in their everyday lives."

Thyme Machines licenses and creates custom USB drives, and the Star Wars endeavor is likely the first of other branded flash drives.

The drives can be purchased from Think Geek and other popular online retailers.

Although there is an obvious "wow" factor with such a niche product, it seems like the USB key could be somewhat difficult to plug into some laptops or netbooks.  If the problem does arise, then purchasing a USB extension cable may be the best idea.

In September, Toshiba announced it would launch Transformer USB flash drives before Christmas this year.

As the price of flash drives continues to fall -- with current prices a fraction of what they were 24-36 months ago -- companies are now attempting to model niche products that can be purchased as collectables or everyday use drives.

Are you interested in a character themed USB key?  If so, what character would you like to see introduced as a flash product?
