Toshiba today announced immediately availability of new consumer HDDs with capacities of 4 TB and 5 TB. The Desktop Internal Hard Drive series drives are according to Toshiba compatible with most computers with a S-ATA interface. The hard drives use Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) technology, Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and TMR Head Recording technology for increased capacity, reliability and performance.
The 7200 RPM disks are compatible with Windows 7 or higher, OS X 10.6 till 10.9 and Linux. The HDDs are available starting today in North and South America and have a MSRP of $299 for the 4TB model and $399 for the 5 TB drive and come with a standard limited warranty of three years. The Desktop Internal Hard Drive series are targeted at consumers that want to increase their storage capacity.
