Last year about 13 million Ultra HDTVs were sold The TVs feature a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels,  four times more than Full HD.

In total the 13 million sold TVs generated a revenue of $15 billion, or $1154 per TV. This year 30 million Ultra HDTVs are expected to be sold which should generate a revenue of $26.7 billion or $890 per TV, which is a price drop of 23%.

Currently the cheapest Ultra HDTVs are sold  for about $460 but most models switch owners for about $1000.

OLED still doesn't seem to become the technology of choice for TV buyers and  Displaysearch expects that OLED TVs won't become cheaper this year. The average price of an OLED TV will be around $4000 which is pretty much the same as in 2014.  Nevertheless, Displaysearch expects an increase in sales of OLED TVs. In 2013 several hundreds of thousands OLED TVs were sold, this year the expected number of sold OLED TVs should be around 600,000.

LG is currently the only company that produces OLED TVs on large scale. OLED is an alternative to LCD and has more vivid colors and improved brightness. Despite expectations that OLED should become a cheap technology, production costs are currently still high which is why the cheapest OLED TV is currently $2800.

In total 230 million TVs will be sold this year, an increase of 1.8%.
