Users concerned: Microsoft shows advertisement in start menu

A new build of Windows 10, distributed to Windows Insiders, shows an advertisement in the start menu. A spot on the left side of the menu, outside the Live Tiles, is now used by the Redmond technology giant for promotion, Betanews reports.

Build 10565 was distributed to users some days ago and some users noticed the 'Suggested Apps' menu entry. This isn't really actually new, Microsoft has been using the spot for months, according to Microsoft watcher Paul Thurrott. Nevertheless, the post caused uproar amongst users that fear the free Windows 10 will be used by Microsoft to display unwanted advertisements.

Although you can never be sure, it seems to be limited to suggesting apps (for now), and Microsoft has made it easy to remove the 'Suggested Apps' entry, simply a right click and choosing either 'Don't show this suggestion' or 'Turn of all suggestions' will make sure that either the suggestion of a particular app or all app suggestions are gone.
