Vimeo Uses AI Technology for Its Video Editing Format

Vimeo unveiled its new video editing format called Vimeo Create last Tuesday, February 25, 2020. The launch of the short-form social editing platform comes after acquiring Magisto for $200 million in 2019.

Upon Magisto’s acquisition in 2019, Tech Crunch reports that Vimeo announced its plans to deviate from marketing. Instead, the firm reportedly intends to focus its efforts on social video creation and editing with its new platform.

As part of its new strategy, the company plans to become a one-stop-shop for establishments and individuals alike who want to make and publish finished clips.

Magisto is an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered video editing app supported by Qualcomm, notes Venture Beat. The format utilizing AI technology helps users analyze the images, speech, and audio that garners attention on social media and can be shared on different platforms.

In a statement, Anjali Sud, chief executive officer of Vimeo, said, “It’s a radically simple tool that shortens the distance from idea to execution so more businesses can have a successful video strategy.”

Sud also said, “Video is the most impactful medium we have today for human expression at scale, and businesses need an online video strategy to reach their customers. Small business owners and entrepreneurs don’t have the tools, time, or budgets to make videos at the volume and quality needed to compete. Vimeo Create levels the playing field.”

The editing app offers businesses the platform to create their own video marketing tools. It houses an extensive selection of licensed music tracks, as well as high definition clips and photos. All layouts, formats, colors, and other aspects are fully customizable under the said platform.

After selecting the desired features, Tech Crunch states the AI-powered technology on the app will churn out a social video format in minutes. The design format for the clips vary and are designed to fit different social platforms. These include access to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.

Apart from the app which can be downloaded on both Android and iOS powered devices, Vimeo Create is also available on the Internet. The app was initially launched its beta testing phase in January 2020, with a full range of features available today.

Individuals may only access Vimeo Create via their Vimeo account. However, Venture Beat reports that individuals may only get the full range of features, including saving and posting clips on different platforms, upon getting a subscription package.
