Vizio to introduce wireless HDTVs

Vizio announced it plans to begin integrating wireless HD technology into several future TV products, as the company seeks to offer lossless 1080p content at 4Gbps.

Once the company's application to the WirelessHD Association is completed -- which should be approved with little trouble -- Vizio and SiBEAM will introduce the Visio XVT Pro TV line during CES later this week.

SiBeam already works with Best Buy, Monster, Panasonic, LG, and Sony, with the company actively seeking additional partners.  Wireless technology is expected to increase in the coming years, as HDTV owners look for new ways to watch content quickly and easily.

Vizio, the No. 1 LCD HDTV company in America, is known for quality products at a lower price than Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and other old school TV manufacturers.

"Our customers seek out Vizio products for their combination of advanced performance, function, form and most of all unequalled value," said Matthew McRae, Vizio Products VP, in a statement.  "Working together with SiBEAM, we’re thrilled to introduce WirelessHD-based products to our customers who want a complete, high quality wireless entertainment experience with easier and faster setup. By incorporating WirelessHD into a range of new products, VIZIO will be among the first to introduce wireless solutions to the mainstream market."

Using the SiBEAM OmniLink60 beam-forming technology, SiBEAM claims its transmitter and receivers provide support through the "beam-forming system" capable of working around objects and through walls.  Furthermore, since the technology operates at 60GHz, there is no interference with 802.11g and 802.11n Wi-Fi signals or cordless telephone systems.

The ability for consumers to stream wireless HD content is appealing, especially if SiBEAM's technology works as promoted.
