WhatsApp has introduced a new feature to group chats. When enabled, only admins are able to send messages to a group. This should be especially useful for groups where users can receive important announcements and information, including parents and teachers at schools, community centers, and non-profit organizations, according to Whatsapp.

When the group administrator enables the new feature, only he or she can send messages while other group members can only receive them. The new feature can be enabled  in Group Info,” tap Group Settings > Send Messages” and select “Only Admins.”

Users in a group where only administrators can send messages can still send private messages to the admin, but the rest of the chat remains uncluttered.

With the latest update it will also become easier for users to let their friends know when they have a new number. In the settings in Account, there is now an option to change the phone number. Users can select individual contacts that should be informed about the new number.

The Facebook owned messaging service is rolling out both new feature to all users around the world on the latest supported versions of the app.
