Windows 10 build 9926 released to insiders

It has been almost 2 months now since the last Insider build, today Microsoft finally released a new build for everyone to play with.

After some teasing on twitter by Gabe Aul and Joe Belfiore earlier today, build 9926 was finally released to Windows Insiders. Insiders can get the build either through updating from previous Insider builds, by grabbing an ISO for a fresh install, or by updating from Windows 7 or 8.1. Users running leaked build should perform a clean install, especially those on 9901.

The biggest new feature in 9926 is probably Cortana. This is the first official build to include Microsoft's personal assistant. 9901 already had Cortana, but this new version is clearly a lot more polished, it includes "Hey Cortana" for example.

There's also an updated version of the Start menu, it includes the ability to switch back to a fullscreen start screen. Other features demoed in Wednesday's event, like transparency, will show up in future builds.

Some of the updated apps showed off at the event are also in 9926. There's the updated Settings app (meant to fully replace the old Control Panel), an updated Photos app and Maps app, and a completely new Store.

Lastly there are a ton of bugfixes and improvements based on Insider feedback, check out the full list here.
