Windows 10 to warn when applications attempts to access microphone

Microsoft has released a Windows 10 Insider Preview build that can warn users if there is an attempt to get access to the microphone. Users can choose which applications can use the microphone in the privacy settings screen of the operating system.

When users have disabled the microphone in their privacy settings and an application still tries to get access to the microphone, Windows 10 will show a notification that access to the microphone has been blocked. The notification also provides the option to review and change the privacy settings.

The privacy enhancement can be tested in Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17686. When, and if, the feature will appear in the final version of Windows 10 is unknown.
