A release candidate of Windows 9 should see the light in August of September this year and at the end of this year the version should be made available to OEMs and partners.  The launch of Windows 9 would be surprising as it's relatively close to the release of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, which should also get a spring update in April. It's unclear what Microsoft willl add to  Windows 9, given the relative short development time, it's expected that it won't be a radical change.

Windows 9 might introduce Android apps, as we recently reported, Microsoft appears to be planning to build into its operating systems.
