The new console from Sony also doesn't need to connect to the internet daily to verify itself. Both consoles have a Blu-ray drive and both come with a hard disk drive with a capacity of 500 GB. The HDD of the Playstation 4 is replaceable, while the HDD of the Xbox One isn't.

The Playstation 4 will be $399,- which is $100,- cheaper than the Xbox One that will be sold for $499. While the Playstation 4 is cheaper it also seems a bit less strict when it comes to copy protections. Besides the fact that it has no region lock, the Sony console doesn't require to connect to the internet every 24 hours.The Xbox One does have this requirement while it's also region locked.
There is some confusion about second hand games on both consoles. For now it's likely that Microsoft will require an additional charge to play a game on another console than the initial one on which the game was installed for the first time. Sony announced that it will support second hand games but it's unclear if the Japanese tech giant will also require a fee to play the game to a different console or transfer it to a different owner.
