It’s quite difficult to get excited about DRAM. Because of
the physical restrictions of the DRAM socket, and the amount of space available
around the DRAM socket, DRAM pretty much all looks the same. Manufacturers
often add heat spreaders, not only to help dissipate heat away from the DRAM
chips themselves, but also to give their DRAM a distinctive look.
Today I’m taking a look at some DDR4 DRAM from Crucial, in the
shape of the Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR4 dual channel kit, which Crucial UK
kindly sent me for review. The kit comprises 2x 8GB PC4-19200 (2400MHz) UDIMM
modules, with 16-16-16-39 timings and a command rate of 2T.
