Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 16GB Memory Review

Final thoughts and the conclusion

Much more important than performance is stability, because,
if the DRAM is unstable, then the system will crash and be unusable.

I’m happy to state that during the testing period, the
Crucial Ballistix Sport 2400 MHz 16GB dual channel DDR4 kit proved to be rock
solid, and caused no problems whatsoever. The DRAM also remained only warm to
the touch, as well, and certainly never felt uncomfortably hot even under a
prolonged period at full load.

It was also nice to see that the Crucial Ballistix Sport
managed to reach its max clock speed whilst sticking to the SkyLake platform
default input voltage of 1.2V, thus preventing any extra load on the SkyLake
CPU where the DRAM controller resides.

Whilst appearance is a subjective matter, the Crucial
Ballistix Sport look pleasantly understated but tasteful, and much more
pleasing to the eye than some of the DRAM heat spreader monstrosities that I’ve
come across before.

The Crucial Ballistix Sport also comes with a limited
lifetime warranty, taking the pain out of any potential problem that you may
come across with the kit.

Let us summarise the most important positive and negative
points below:

  • Stability is rock solid.
  • Excellent performance.
  • Pleasant, understated, but sleek design.
  • Limited lifetime warranty.
  • Very good value

  • Nothing to mention.

Price and availability

The Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB dual channel DDR4 memory
kit is available now, and I found it listed at Amazon
for £70.54 including VAT, making the Crucial Ballistix Sport good value.

The parting sentence is:

“The Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 memory kit proved to be
rock solid, fast, and has a pleasing understated design.
